Test

I've been thinking about occasionally posting again, so this post is a test to see if my Blogger account has been shut off.

I'm OLD!!

Today I went grocery shopping.

One of the reasons I shop at this particular grocery store is the number of friendly attractive young ladies that work there. No, I don't hit on them, but I do joke with them and tease them. I do enjoy looking at them. Hey, I'm a guy!!

While waiting in line to check out, I came to a realization. All of the young ladies running the registers are the age of, or younger than my daughter!

Damn it! I'm getting old!!

Obligatory New Year's Post

Actually it's not obligatory, but I'm in a facetious mood. Here is wishing anybody that wanders by here a happy and prosperous new year.

No partying was endured last night (I leave that up to younger more resilient types), and after getting up a little too early this morning to talk to my daughter, I made a decision to do something I haven't done in about 14 or 15 years. I'm going to make 3 New Year's resolutions.

1) Get to work on building my camping trailer . I know, I know. I said I was gonna do this a long time ago, but I just didn't do it. I need to get serious about this and get it done.

To do this, I need to do a few other things first. I need to clean out the garage, I need to clean out the shed so I'll have room to store the stuff from the garage. To have room to put the stuff from the garage, I'll have to move tools and parts from the shed to the garage, where eventually I'll need them anyway. While I'm doing this, I'll be going through stuff and throwing junk away. After all that is done, but before I start the trailer, I'll need to buy a bunch of plywood in 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch while I still have the trailer to haul it on. If I'm gonna do that, I will need to build storage racks to store the plywood in to keep it from warping. I also need to build a portable station (a stand with extension wings) for my tablesaw, a router table, and various jigs. All this is basically why I haven't started on the trailer. However, I got to thinking about it and figure if I'll just work on it a little bit every day, I might be able to sneak up on it and get it done. I've just gotta do it.

2)Change my sleep habits. Over the past 6 months or so I have gotten into a habit of staying up until 1:00 or 2:00 AM, and then sleeping or at least laying in bed until 9:00 or 10:00. Why I do this I don't know, but I want to get back in the habit of going to bed no later than 11:00 PM and getting up around 7:00 or 7:30 AM. I really need to get my schedule adjusted.

3)Start harassing Ravon and JB to get either better jobs, or maybe part time jobs to go along with what they have. They are stuck in the mindset that what they have is good enough, and with that mindset, they'll never get ahead. I know it's not my place to decide their station in life, but I'm the one that hears what they need and and want, and with a little more income, they can cover those needs and wants.

We'll see if I can do all this or if I'm just too lazy to save.

PS. I received an email asking about my travels as it is mentioned in the blog header. They still happen occasionally, but not to the degree I would like. It seems like the reality of life has gotten in the way. Since I now live at Mom's house, trying to do for her, and try to help the kids out when possible, my time and money are tight. However, one day the travels will become a major part of my life.
